As our first month of orientation and training is wrapping up, we’re working hard to kick off portfolio committees and term projects! There have been many developments in the University Affairs portfolio, from consultations on the draft McGill Policy Against Sexual Violence to the launch of registration for our 2nd Annual Student Academic Summit (sign up by Friday, October 7th at 5:00PM). - Hosting focus group sessions on draft McGill Policy Against Sexual Violence
- First Senate meeting of the year held on Wednesday, September 21st
- Completed background research for unpaid internships policy
- Compiling revisions for SSMU Equity Policy
- Circulated second-ever University Affairs listserv
- Working with Library researcher on open access textbook opportunities
Fall goals completed to-date (italics = since last report):
- Held goal setting meetings with each senator
- Identified “Equity Advocacy Network” groups
- Hosted Consent Week panel on power dynamics
- Accountability Policy & Committee revisions approved
- 500 like count on SSMU Equity Facebook page
- Filled all seats on university committees
- Launched new University Affairs listserv
- Re-launched Student Rights website
- Organized Add-Drop “Know Your Rights” campaign
